General Permit Information

Work such as (but not limited to) additions, swimming pools, rehabilitation, demolitions, finished basements, electrical services, lawn sprinkler systems, concrete patios, solar panels, furnace and/or water heater conversions and replacements, outdoor generators, and sewer line replacements must always have all associated permits and approvals, prior to beginning the project.

Permitting Process:

  1. A permit is received by the construction department and reviewed for completeness.
    a. If complete: It is put into the Plan Review process.
    b. If incomplete: We will request missing information or mail back to originator.
  2. A Plan Review is done by each Sub-code Official that is required by the permit work-type.
  3. The permit is signed off by the Construction Official for final approval.
  4. The office will contact the designated representative for payment.
  5. Once payment is received, the permits are mailed back to the originator or payee. Work is permitted to commence.
  6. The yellow placard should be posted in a front window or door where it can be visible from the street and remain posted until all inspections pass.

Dumpster Requirements

Dumpsters require approval from the Township.
Applications can be submitted to the Zoning Office by completing the Zoning Form.

They are approved for use up to 30 days and must be place in the driveway.
Corner properties may be subject to additional requirements.

If a dumpster cannot be placed in the driveway, further instruction from the Zoning Official is required, as the dumpster cannot obstruct traffic without proper coning and traffic coordination.

Pool Permits

Zoning and construction applications for pool permits can be submitted together to streamline the process. See the pool brochure for some ordinance information.

1st – Zoning Department

  1. A pool requires zoning approval, for placement of the pool (in relation to your home, shed, and property lines).
  2. Completed zoning form.
  3. $50 check to Edgewater Park Twp. (for residential properties)
  4. A copy of the property survey, drawn in different color pen show where the pool will be, dimensions of pool, distances from surrounding property lines, and structures.
  5. You will receive approval or denial notice.

2nd – Construction Department

Once zoning is approved your work will require a construction permit application for the build of the pool.

  1. Requires the electric technical sheet.
  2. Requires the building technical sheet.
  3. Requires the permit jacket for all the documents to go into.
  4. Include any pool spec. paperwork.
  5. Copy of  the zoning approval.
