General Permit Information
Work such as any minor or major work as defined by the UCC (but not limited to the following): additions, alterations, rehabilitation projects, demolitions, finished basements, electrical services, lawn sprinkler systems, concrete patios, solar panels, A/C replacements, furnace replacements, water heater replacements, HVAC work, boiler replacements, enclosed porches, outdoor generators, above/inground pools, and sewer line replacements, etc. must always have all associated permits and approvals, prior to beginning the project. Some projects may require prior approvals from different departments. Please confirm with the clerk when submitting your application.
Permitting Process:
- A permit is received (date stamped) by the Construction Department and reviewed for completeness.
a. If complete: It is put into the Plan Review process.
b. If incomplete: We will request missing information, permit is placed in pending file.
- A plan review is done by each Subcode Official that is required by the permit work-type.
- If approved: the permit is signed off by the Construction Official for final approval
- If denied: plan review notes are e-mailed, mailed, or called in to the appropriate party. Plan review will commence once material is received.
- With complete permit approval, the office will contact the designated representative for payment (the General Contractor).
- Once payment is received, the permits are provided to the payee or mailed back to the originator. Work is permitted to commence.
- The ORANGE placard should be posted in a front window or door where it can be visible from the street and remain posted until all inspections pass.
SUBMIT ONLINE APPLICATION
*Online applications must follow up with a hard copy submitted to the office within 72 hours of making an online submission.
Forms
Construction permit forms & applications

Construction forms must be deemed complete to properly begin plan review; including, but not limited to:

- Description of work, including any materials or identifying sizes
- Quantified items being installed/replaced & sizes, in KW/AMP/HP/FT (if applicable)

If the property owner does not have a New Jersey mailing address, a NJ representative must provide their name, NJ address, and phone number with the permit application. P.O. Boxes are not acceptable.
Anything not supplied by the applicant, that is required by the inspections department, could result in a delayed approval. If an application is incomplete, the application is subjected to be held in pending, until requested information is resubmitted.
Demolition Requirements
Demo permits require:
1. Permit jacket + each sub-code that is affected (such at utility shut offs for electrical & plumbing, or disconnecting fire sprinkler systems)
2. Please refer to the demo checklist when submitting a permit application.
Dumpster Requirements
  |
Dumpsters require approval from the Township.
Applications can be submitted to the Zoning Office by completing the Zoning Form.
They are approved for use up to 30 days and must be place in the driveway.
Corner properties may be subject to additional requirements.
If a dumpster cannot be placed in the driveway, further instruction from the Zoning Official is required, as the dumpster cannot obstruct traffic without proper coning and traffic coordination.

- Requires the permit jacket for all the documents to go into.
