Police Chief Robert D. Hess


Edgewater Park Township Police Department Chief Robert D. Hess grew up in Edgewater Park and attended all three schools in Edgewater Park before graduating from Burlington City High School in 1987. Chief Hess then graduated from class 60 at the Burlington County Police Academy and later, the West Point Command and Leadership Academy.

Chief Hess joined the Edgewater Park Police Department in October of 1991. During his time as a patrol officer, Chief Hess taught D.A.R.E. at Ridgway Middle School for ten years and he was an instructor at the Burlington County Police Academy.

Chief Hess advanced to the position of Investigator in 1995, Sergeant in 2001 and Lieutenant in 2003. While in the Patrol Division, Chief Hess held the positions of Commander of the Office of Professional Standards, Department Training Officer, Field Training Officer and Uniform Crime Reporter for the NJSP.

Chief Hess is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Burlington County Internal Affairs Association, the Burlington County Police Chiefs Association and the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.
